Your result for The Brutally Honest Personality Test...

Pollyanna- INFP

47% Extraversion, 60% Intuition, 27% Thinking, 47% Judging

So, you want to make the world a better place? Too bad it's never gonna happen.

Of all the types, you have to be one of the hardest to find fault in. You have a selfless and caring nature. You're a good listener and someone who wants to avoid conflict. You genuinely desire to do good.

Of course, these all add up to an incredibly overpowered conscience which makes you feel guilty and responsible when anything goes wrong. Of course, it MUST be your fault EVERYTIME.

Though you're constantly on a mission to find the truth, you have no use for hard facts and logic, which is a source of great confusion for those of us with brains. Despite this, in a losing argument, you're not above spouting off inaccurate fact after fact in an effort to protect your precious values.

You're most probably a perfectionist, which in this case, is a bad thing. Any group work is destined to fail because of your incredibly high standards.

Disregard what I said before. You're just easy to find fault in as everyone else!

Luckily, you're generally very hard on yourself, meaning I don't need to waste my precious time insulting you. Instead, just find all your own faults and insult yourself.

If you enjoyed that test, make sure you check out my latest venture: The Presidential Capacity Quiz - It's much shorter, just as fun and just as accurate. Find out how far you would get in the race for President. Are you fit to rule the free world?

WOW .......... The wonders of nature!

THE BIRTH OF A HUMMINGBIRD

This is truly amazing. Be sure to click on NEXT PAGE at the bottom of each page; there are 5 pages in all. A lady found a hummingbird nest and got pictures all the way from the egg to leaving the nest. It took 24 days from birth to flight.
Because you'll probably never in your lifetime see this again, enjoy, and please share.

Oscar Commentary

I did not include photos because I think there would be a big copyright issue there, but you can check out www.oscar.com and form your own opinions.

Dear Lisa Rinna,
Fire your plastic surgeon - NOW. You also might want to consider consulting an atty.

Dear Christofer Walken,
You might want to try a shower and a haircut before a black tie event - I'm just sayin'. You look like you are growing out Jewish peyes.

Dear Anne Hathaway,
You are not only gorgeous, but also warm, free spirited and gracious. The level of class you displayed in being truly joyful when Kate Winslet won is admirable. You are moving on and up in the world and graduating from Disney movies, to serious rolls - kudos to you my dear. You are on your way to be a true "movie star". PS You and Hugh in the opening number - stupendous!

My personal "Best Dressed":
Amy Adams - gorgeous, and I love the necklace!
Taraji Henson - stunning, truly befitting an Oscar winner
Angelina Jolie - perfect as always, I especially adored the matching emerald earrings and ring, they were so huge that I would have assumed them to be glass on anyone but you
Queen Latifah - you give me hope that plus sized ladies can look just as glam as the size zeros - work it girl!

Missed the Mark:
Jessica Biel - can you say cream colored potato sack?
Philip Seymour Hoffman - I've seen you look good, what's with the oversized beret? bad hair day??
Goldie Hawn - your breasts are certainly not DDs (albeit perfect for your figure), so how did you manage to find a dress that couldn't accommodate them?
Miley Cyrus - was it an homage to Vivian Leigh that made you chose a dress that looks like curtains?
Sophia Loren - You are an icon! Please don't dress like you are running a saloon at the OK Corral. Thanks.
Whoopi - The style and fit of her gown was awesome - the print, not so much.

Somewhere in the Middle:
Penelope Cruz - you looked divine my dear, but I couldn't get away from the thought that you were wearing a huge petticoat and that you forgot to put on your outer shell before heading down the red carpet.
Nicole Kidman - Gets points for effort, but in the end she reminded me of a plucked flamingo.

Notes to the Academy:
LOVED that pseudo-Bollywood number, but next time keep the bottom of the costumes ON. The spandex capris were a little disconcerting.

Notes to self:
There are A LOT of really great movies that I missed this year! I didn't even know the major plot points of Slumdog Millionaire or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button until Oscar night. Must see those, and a few others .....

In finally be out on my own, a recurring theme my close friends have pointed out is that I don't care for myself, or give myself the nurturing and attention I deserve and I need to work on that now that I am living in an environment of MY choosing.

A noticed right away that even though I LOVE to cook, I wasn't bothering to cook for myself. I like to cook for OTHER people and it seems silly to put thought and effort into a meal for one. Then I rethought that as I was dining on a lackluster dinner consisting of a frozen Oncore entree and some veggies that had seen better days. I AM worth the effort - isn't that the whole point? Plus I can always eat the leftovers for dinner later in the week for lunch or dinner.

In that vein, I cooked twice for myself last week. I can't put together a full on feast every night, but I consciously recognize that I am worth more than frozen chicken nuggets or PB&J - at least on the weekends.

Saturday I took a chunk of london broil from my freezer (my aunt also lives alone and sometimes we split bigger cuts of meat) marinated it in fresh garlic and balsamic, then seared it in a super hot iron pan on the stove top (smoke alarm test!). I paired that with a nice baked red potato and some peas. Sunday I roasted a chicken with garlic and thyme and surrounded the bird with cut up potatoes and onions and bits of celery. I added cranberry sauce and canned beets to round out the meal.

Tonight I had leftovers for dinner, but I am currently enjoying the most decadent mug of hot chocolate ever. I heated milk on the stove and poured it over cocoa powder, sugar, a dash of salt, a few shakes of cinnamon and a smidge of vanilla extract.

Tomorrow I hope to find the energy after work to finally DO that yoga DVD I bought, instead of just watching it.

It has been brought to my attention that while I asked for support for Boaz Community Corp, some of you may not know what exactly they do.

The Boaz Community Corporation is a not-for-profit community development organization dedicated to providing education and counseling on immigration matters in the central New Jersey area. The Boaz Community Corporation has grown out of support from the Christ Church of New Brunswick. Founded in 1742, Christ Church has a long history of ministry to community members in need. Recognizing that immigrants make up almost a fourth of New Brunswick’s residents, Boaz aims to support the integration of the newest members of our community through a host of out-reach and in-reach activities relating to immigration.

Recently Boaz has added a new component to its mission with its Family Law Outreach and Representation program. Boaz has been serving the legal needs of Central New Jersey residents on immigration matters since 2002. In that vein, Boaz encounters many clients who are victims of domestic violence.

Boaz has risen to meet this emerging need, and is able to assist those clients that require relief from the Family Courts. Boaz provides representation to immigrant victims of domestic violence with family law matters such as divorce, restraining orders and custody issues.

This, combined with their continued efforts to represent clients in immigration matters and their interactions with the community to provide OUTREACH, EDUCATION and ADVOCACY has made Boaz a vital legal services agency in New Jersey.

Apt Ramblings

Well it was an eventful weekend. I finally got a landline and the plumber fixed my kitchen drain (and FLOODED the apt in the process).

Tonight I was able to light my oven, make some dinner and wash the dishes. It was simple fair; pork chops baked in tomato soup w/ onions and rice. But it was one of the most satisfying meals I have ever had.

I caught up on some DVR and some sleep today. I'm still not close to unpacked, but I did chose paint colors for every room (now to find the energy and time to paint). Also, while I still having a running list of things I know I OWN, but can't FIND in this sea of boxes, I did manage to unearth about a half dozen things on the list today. Guess where they were? In the kitchen cabinets! My friend T was helping me unpack the day I moved in, and it never occurred to me that just b/c *I* didn't see it, doesn't mean it wasn't unpacked. Duuuh. (And yes, I did check ALL the cabinets after that.)

Now I am just relaxing and indulging in a little Facebooking and catching up on some blog reading. This wave washed over me and at first I didn't quite know what it was. Then I realized - I am content and calm and quite pleased in general. AND the thought that spread a huge smile over my face - this isn't an anomaly for one day, this is now my LIFE! I can do Yoga whenever I want! I can do nothing at all. Saturday night I got it into my head to clean my bathroom at 2am and there was no one I had to worry about waking or annoying.

Ohhh yeaa - me like this!

A squashed donut, a mug of soda and a handful of cheez-its counts as dinner right?? Right??!

I have some food, but I have not done the massive haul food shopping run I need to do just yet. I have cereal, but no milk, tea but no sugar. You get the idea. Plus it seems so silly to cook just for me. And, I must admit, while my stove is retro and hip and all that, I am slightly afraid of it. Somehow an appliance that shoots gas and flames that is over 50 years old frightens me a tad.

That's the closest approximation I could find on the web.

And while I am on the subject of being newly moved; why is it that I KNOW I own certain things, and yet no matter how many times I comb these boxes, I can't FIND them? Like my crock pot, or my coffee pot? Or the fancy, schmancy "grey salt" I bought only a few weeks ago when I was living with former law school rmmate?? Where do these things GO? Are they hanging out in the realm of lost socks?? Bizarre.

So my brand spankin' new Kiwanis club is having our Charter luncheon at the end of the month. As part of the luncheon, we are putting together gift baskets to be raffled off as a fundraiser. If anyone has any superfluous holidays gifts they would like to donate I would be most appreciative. Candles, bath sets .... anything brand new that you would like to donate. Also, if you work in retail and would like to ask the higher ups at your place of employment for a gift card, that would also be appreciated. 501(c)(3) certificate to prove our non-profit status available for examination.

ALSO, if you would like to join the club; msg or email me for more info. We are officially the NJ Kiwanis Club of Young Professionals. We have one mtg a month "in person" and one mtg a month virtually (either online or conference call.) Because we initially tapped alumni who were involved with the organization in college, we have members all over the state (and in fact the country). SO don't think that distance is an issue.

You can click the link above for more info on Kiwanis in general or HERE for the NJ Kiwanis page, if you are not familiar. In a nutshell we do community service as our primary focus, but we also have social events and as the largest community service agency in the world we are a phenomenal path for networking (my current job, my DREAM job - got it through a Kiwanis contact). We pick and chose what projects we want to get involved in. Kiwanis has historically focused on children, but that doesn't stop us from doing a bunch of other great stuff for the community.

Anyway, to sum up; we are in need donations of goods, if you have something lying around, and if you want to participate in the club or just want more info, shoot me a line.
